What do we treat babies and children for?
Parents bring babies to the osteopath for help with problems such as unsettledness, neck pain and irritability possibly due to colic or gastro-oesophageal reflux, a “wry neck”, misshapen head, or feeding difficulties, amongst other things.
A baby’s entrance into the world can be quite traumatic. Often, labour can be prolonged or the baby may become “stuck” and require intervention to be born. This can result in musculoskeletal strains and sprains, and as the skull bones are mobile and malleable, they too can be strained at birth.
As children get older, parents may have concerns about developmental issues, such as crawling and walking, and your osteopath may be able to help. Other reasons for treatment of older children are falls, and sports injuries.
